Jonnie Morris is an artist focusing on creating music that combines the energy of modern hip-hop with the melodies of the contemporary alternative scene. Hailing from Detroit’s west side, the artist grew up in a musical family. His father was a successful local R&B performer named Jonnie Keith Morris. The latter sadly passed away when Jonnie was only 5, leading him to seek comfort and an escape from grief in the sound of music. In particular, he quickly discovers hip-hop as a fitting outlet to channel his feelings. Inspired by some of the most notable artists in the game, he channeled influences such as DMX, Notorious B.I.G Eminem, And Royce DA 5’9. The way these artists were able to share their stories and life experiences through music was something that had a massive impact on Jonnie. He could relate to them and knew that he could also pay it forward, using his music to ignite hope and inspire many listeners.

For this reason, Jonnie started taking rap seriously early in his life and career. He wrote his first song when he was 12 and never really stopped! The fledgling artist continued to develop his songwriting chops, often incorporating his feelings and real-life experiences dealing with the hardships of life, love, and mental health, much like his idols did before him. He dropped his official debut release, “It’s Beautiful and All Good,” in 2018. This was a bold statement from the artist, who immediately left a mark on the music scene with this impressive studio work. His growing fanbase and industry insiders praised the release, motivating Jonnie to work even harder on his follow-up! A year later, he dropped an even more powerful EP, “Jonnie, Be Good.” This release marked a new chapter in Jonnie’s career, enabling him to reach a broader audience. The rapper, now strong with a devoted following, set the bar even higher in 2021 with the release of “Dreams from the Bottom.” This album features eight songs, among Jonnie’s best tracks to date. To this day, the artist shows no sign of slowing down and continues to work on new music.

His sound is dynamic and effortless, in line with what listeners would expect from some of the best rappers in the game.
